What is Born Again or Saved?

This article is about the very special term "Born Again" delving deeper into what it actually is, how you receive it, what happens, what changes take place and more importantly how you do not receive it.

This is a heavy, heavy article that comes with a Warning that some of the videos featured here may have an emotional impact and are probably best viewed in private and not on say Public Transport, McDonalds or whilst in the queue at the local Supermarket. Don't say I didn't warn you!

The owner of this website talking about the journey he went on before he actually got "Saved" or "Born Again". It is a Spiritual Journey to put it mildly!

So what does this "Born" Again mean or what is often referred to as "Saved"?

Oxford Dictionary Definition
Of, pertaining to, or characterized by (an experience of) new birth in Christ or spiritual renewal; of a Christian: placing special emphasis on this experience as a basis for all one's actions, evangelical

Wikipedia
Born again is a phrase used by many Protestants to describe the phenomenon of gaining faith in Jesus Christ. It is an experience when everything they have been taught as Christians becomes real, and they develop a direct and personal relationship with God.

With the voluntaristic type, rebirth is expressed in a new alignment of the will, in the liberation of new capabilities and powers that were hitherto undeveloped in the person concerned. With the intellectual type, it leads to an activation of the capabilities for understanding, to the breakthrough of a "vision".
With others it leads to the discovery of an unexpected beauty in the order of nature or to the discovery of the mysterious meaning of history. With still others it leads to a new vision of the moral life and its orders, to a selfless realization of love of neighbour. ... each person affected perceives his life in Christ at any given time as “newness of life.”

Evangelical
For an Evangelical, becoming "born again" often happens like this: A preacher will say "If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and believe he died for your sins, you’ll be born again!" So the person makes "a decision for Christ" and at the altar call goes forward to be led in "the sinner’s prayer" by the minister. Then the minister tells all who prayed the sinner’s prayer that they have been saved—"born again."?

My Definition.
Born Again or Saved is a process and acknowledgement or a realisation (not instant) that you have sinned in your life, have repented of those sins and have with 100% of your heart mind and soul shown true belief in Jesus Christ and taken in the Holy Spirit. As a result you become a new creation and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and truly enter into the Christian faith.

How is it received?

Plain and simply it is "By the grace of God" meaning it is a gift given to somebody that really doesn't deserve it by their past actions but because they have come to a realisation that what they have done and how they are living their life is wrong this gift has been bestowed upon them.

What happens?
Upon the taking of the Holy Spirit the old self is lost and you become a new creation. I call it "In the Faith" others call it "In the Spirit"

With some the process is dramatic with others it's more gradual. One of the effects of this transformation is a gaining of guidance and a keeping on the "narrow road" to holiness and the innate ability to see the difference between right and wrong via the Holy Spirit. A hunger for The Bible and Church and Prayer is another by product of this transformation.

According to Melton:

"Born again is a phrase used by many Protestants to describe the phenomenon of gaining faith in Jesus Christ. It is an experience when everything they have been taught as Christians becomes real, and they develop a direct and personal relationship with God"

Here's how you will not be "Born Again" or "Saved". This is in my opinion based on my personal experience.

1. Money will not buy it
2. Holding a bible in your hand will not give it to you
3. It cannot be passed on to you by a man or woman no matter who they are.
4 It cannot be given to you by the laying on of hands
5. It cannot be inherited as in genetically.
6. Just saying a short prayer out of the blue will not give it to you
7. Just believing in my opinion is not enough!
8. Knowing the bible inside out and being able to quote numerous bible verses without true belief doesn't mean you are Saved either.
9. Being the baddest person on the planet will not deny you it, but conversely it will not guarantee you it either.
10. You can't get it at a certain geographic location where other people say they got it.
11. Age, race, creed, religion, financial status, sexual orientation or occupation are no barrier to receiving it
12. Going to a Mega Church or Football Stadium Christian Event won't give it either
13. Having oil poured on your head called "Annointing" will not do it
14. Being baptised on it's own or getting confirmed at church will not give it to you either.
15. Doing good works or deeds or donating to charity will not bring it to you.
Having a friendship or relationship with Born Again Christian will not pass it on to you BUT will possibly sow "Born Again" seeds that may possible sprout in later life.
16. Donating vast sums of money to your local church will not "Save" you either.
17. Saying yes or raising your hand and going to the front of the church and saying a little prayer to be "Saved" with a Pastor, I just don't think personally it works but it really depends on your circumstances and how your life led up to that moment.

Sample Testimonies

Here are some Testimonies of people who say they were "Saved" or "Born Again". From all walks of life, some dramatic, some weepy, some calm and relaxed, a couple of celebrities,  but you will notice a similar thread running through all of them. I have to say I cried whilst watching The Yasmine Ex Occult Witchcraft video, it was like watching a female version of myself going through a similar experience.

Kat McNain
I hope this will serve as an encouragement to fellow Christians and also as a catalyst for those still part of the new age movement. I was lost in trying to obtain personal power and control through the occult ( worldwide consciousness, deity visualization, Hindu and Buddhist methods of attaining karmic merit) this all came to a screeching halt when I came to know the love and power of Jesus Christ

And lastly my Testimonial

Are you Born Again or a Fake Christian.

A real Christian that is Born Again will be guided by the Spirit and it will show in their actions, their speech and their writings. They are a Christian from the inside out Heart, Mind and Soul. They are not interested in the things of The World.

A fake or Non Born Again Christian is one that puts on the jacket or coat of Christianity and has the outward appearance of a Christian but their actions, speech, writings and motives in their everyday lives are of the world. They think they are Born Again but their heart, mind and soul are not concerned with living like Jesus Christ. Their life is not being lived according to scripture.

These days I can walk into a Church and see the true Born Again Christians, they shine in a certain way that you can't put your finger on, there's just something different about them.

Some extra links that test those that think they are born again and the final link proves what I mentioned earlier about the little prayer syndrome.
